Bristol and West of England Dinner

The Bristol and West of England Branch of the St Beghians Society held its 65th annual dinner on Friday May 31st. This puts our first dinner back in 1949 when the school was a very different place and those gathering for the event would have been strictly Old Boys. One of our number, Dr Bill Frankland, would have been just nineteen years into his 'Old Boy' status, but more than half of the twelve Society members present wouldn't have then been schoolboys! As is our custom we were delighted to welcome wives to the dinner, raising the numbers present to twenty-three. The Ship Inn at Alverston once again made us very welcome; they managed to reclaim their dining room before midnight, but not long before! This was, again, a good fun evening; we would just love to welcome some of the lady members of the Society and some, of either gender, who left the school after 1967! Our regulars are getting older, year by year, and we'd really like to see some new blood. The 'oldies', even those who still have their teeth, don't bite. Why not give it a try? If you're worried about being the only one of your generation why not bring a contemporary?
